Behind The Numbers: Dallas Cowboys @ Denver Broncos

leeleeleelee:

Quarterback:  For the first time in his short career, Tony Romo has gone two weeks without a touchdown pass.  Last week, the week defense of the Panthers made it easy for the running game to go crazy, so it wasn’t a problem.  Well, if you’re a fantasy owner this year, you know that one of the real surprises this year is Denver’s defense.  Romo had a decent game, but missed some key places he needed to be right on the money.  There is a debate with my friends as to whether or not his gameplay was his fault.  But that fumble and interception had Antonio written all over them.  C-

Rushing:  There’s not much bad you can say about the running attack the Cowboys have had since week 2.  Even with Felix Jones out, Tashard and Marion showed the pure power they have and their ability to break tackles for the extra 4 to 8 yards they need for the first.  On a related note, Rashard Mendenhall of the Steelers is reminding me more and more of Tashard Choice.  They found holes even when the offensive line broke off their own plays.  I only wish that Jason Garrett was calling more running plays in that last red zone opporunity. A

Receiving: As always, this is a two faced monster on the Dallas Cowboys.  The receiving core remind me of an abusive, drunk husband.  I’ll love him one minute, and the next, he is beating me with the metro section of the paper for cooking his eggs wrong.  Roy Williams should know his role with the Cowboys now.  It’s to catch balls.  That goes for you too, Marty B.  Stop making youtube videos and get on the practice field.  You ran the exact routes you were supposed to make.  It was your fault for not catching the balls. C

Defense: Speaking of love/hate/spousal abuse, let’s talk about the Cowboys defense.  Defensive line: I love you.  That 3rd and inches and then 4th and inches (or 4TH AND SHORT!) you stopped in the 1st half was great.  The pressure you put on Captain Neckbeard was fantastic.  Secondary: I would not cross a road to piss on your head if you were on fire.  Seriously, guys.  You let the T.O. of the Mountain Time Zone basically make one of the most amazing plays of his careers.  Overweight, slow, and on the field from ankle breaking jukes is no way to go through life, son. C

Overall:  Again, with this loss, it was a very fun game to watch.  Though there were struggles in the red zone on both sides,  it was an SEC game with a Big 10 score.  But struggling to score is a red flag in Cowboys nation.  We are the most fickle fans in the world.  We are far more critical than any of the haters nationwide.  If there is a problem, fix it.  You have the technology.  You can rebuild it.  I expect a blowout in Kansas City. C+

Texas A&M: As I said at Plucker’s, I place full blame for this game on to Texas A&M.  You guys know exactly what you did.  Now stop it with your stupid woots and your mascot that makes no sense. F

Michael Irvin jerseys for you and your girlfriend to wear at the game - $130

Sam Bradford should have gone to the NFL
So today the talk on the sports forums and blogs has shifted from the big interest in the OU-Miami game to why is Sam Bradford still at Oklahoma. I’ve heard a lot of people claim that Bradford made the wrong decision by staying another year at OU after winning the Heisman. PEOPLE!! What’s wrong with you Sam Bradford is not in the wrong here. He like many other QBs (Colt McCoy, Matt Leinart…) care about their education. Remember they are student athletes, STUDENTS first. It is not wrong to want to further your education and put the NFL on the back burner. It doesn’t matter how much money it might have cost him because in the long run that diploma will get him some where in the world. Let’s say he does go into the NFL and the same thing happens to him like it just did…but career ending. Sam Bradford would have been fucked!! With out a degree he would have had a hard time making a living and like most other NFL players file bankruptcy. People leave the kid alone, he did the right thing and please don’t think I’m an OU fan I’m from Texas (FUCK OU) but I just thought that some one should come out and defend this kid for being a good student.
